The 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Auto Show took off Saturday at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District, attracting thousands of visitors.

Spanning an area of 200,000 square meters, the show has attracted about 200 carmakers, auto parts firms, technical service providers and academic research institutions. Hall 1 of the exhibition is dominated by BYD’s captivating series of models. BYD is also showcasing innovative products from the electronic, new energy, and rail transit industries.

The auto show sees the launch events of more than 50 new cars, uniting more than 100 globally recognized car brands and displaying an array of more than 1,000 models. It serves as a platform for introducing groundbreaking technologies and products, while also unveiling exclusive national and South China premieres along with concept cars.

In an effort to stimulate consumption, Shenzhen unveiled a slew of initiatives Friday. The city and district governments have allocated a generous sum of 260 million yuan (US$35.91 million) to provide subsidies aimed at encouraging car owners to trade in their used vehicles for new energy vehicles and eco-friendly petrol-fueled cars.

These subsidies can reach up to 8,000 yuan for each new energy vehicle and 7,000 yuan for a new gasoline-powered vehicle. This timely move further boosts the enthusiasm among the visitors.
